  Service to the Armed Forces Reconnection Workshops

New Workshops presented by the American Red Cross Coachella Valley/Morongo Basin are now available – sign up today!

The American Red Cross continues to help members of the military, veterans and their families prepare for, cope with and respond to the challenges of military service.  The Red Cross has developed a new series of free and completely confidential Reconnection Workshops that are available now.  Workshops are open to all branches of service—if you are a veteran, or if you are on Active Duty, Reserve, National Guard, or if you are a caregiver or family member, please attend.

Our Reconnection Workshops are presented in small groups.  Workshops focus on developing, discussing and practicing communication skill building for individuals and their families.

     ALL WORKSHOPS ARE FREE AND CONFIDENTIAL

On October 7, 2017, the workshop “Identifying Depression” will be held 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Palm Springs Air Museum.

Secretary Shulkin Delivers His First State of the VA Address - WASHINGTON — Secretary of Veterans Affairs Dr. David J. Shulkin delivered his first State of the VA address today, highlighting the activity and direction of the agency since his appointment in February. In his address, Secretary Shulkin stated that he wanted to update Veterans on the progress the agency is making while also acknowledging the shortcomings that the VA has identified and will address in the upcoming months. (5/31/17)

VA’s Lead Geriatrician to Receive Top Award and Deliver Lecture at Annual Meeting - WASHINGTON — Today, the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) announced that its chief of Geriatrics and Extended Care, Dr. Richard M. Allman, is receiving the Edward Henderson Award, and will present the Henderson State-of-the-Art Lecture at the American Geriatrics Society’s (AGS) 2017 Annual Scientific Meeting this week in San Antonio.  (5/19/17)

VA Announces Contract Award for Program for a Faster Care Mobile App for Veterans to Schedule Medical Appointments - WASHINGTON — The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) recently awarded a contract for a commercially available, off-the-shelf online patient self-scheduling system through a mobile application, or app, that will help improve access to care for Veterans. (5/17/17)
